Hey Coranda, at the very least I'm glad that the "evil" version of elves aren't just a dark skinned variety. Otherwise I agree and would add that the Warhammer world is a sort of mirror to our own so versions of /most/ of our ethnicities exist out there somewhere. Not to mention that the Empire is in some respects the most likely candidate for intermixing anywhere in the world, though the game doesn't focus on that side of things. Too bad there aren't body type options though - there are some darn cool figs of Sisters of Sigmar that you can't really recreate in-game for Warrior-Priestesses or suchlike.

If I wanted to play my ancestry I'd have to be a Chaos Marauder. Bloody Norsemen.

Coranda Wrote:Also, I realize that this probably isn't an issue for most of the rest of you, but it drives me right up the wall that we've got yet another game where humans and close-humanoids all hail from Whitey McWhiterton, the conventionally attractive female models default to scantily clad bounce factories, and 'sexy' and 'edgy/evil' are visually conflated for women from the very character creation screen. Don't get me wrong - I love a scantily clad bounce factory as much as the next person, and the scantily clad tattooed edginess is hella hot - it's just... it sets my teeth on edge to see it all so blatant. And just once, just gorram once, I'd like to be able to make a nonwhite human character in a fantasy universe that isn't bloody Guild Wars.

Yes, yes, I'm well aware that in the long and storied history of the Warhammer universe, no one has seen fit to include anyone that looks like me in the slightest. One might charitably let the deginers off the hook for not overstepping their bounds by including something that isn't in the original world/books/games/figures (though one might note that the whole thing with figures is that they can be painted any way one bloody well pleases... *ahem* sorry. Getting a little excited.), but that doesn't make it hurt any less to see yet another major game where this is the case.
I think it's that, in part, there's a stigma or stereotype that the typical fantasy fan will be white, leaving little room for compromise for the fanbase. It does tend to get a bit repetitive if you're holding our society as a basis for comparison. Now that I think about it, most fantasy settings just have come to accept that they really don't compromise much for that matter, and typically don't deviate much from the "standards" either. Take an essentially British hero, give him an epic quest, throw in an unambiguously evil villain, and set up a fill-in-the-blanks world setting born from Lord of the Rings or D&D.

That, however, is one of the reasons I love the world setting for Elder Scrolls. They had all sorts of atypical things in a spectacularly rich world setting, including the very talented and very black Redguards.
Torquil?

Isnt this a character in the film Krull?

Sadly they have a server named Skavenblight, but alas no Skaven. Sad

Go poke some barrels in Altdorf. I promise you'll get a surprise.

Order: Tor Elyr - Vorbaal

Great game so far. I urge all to give it a try... maybe down the road a bit though, when it's running a little smoother.

My utter frustration with healers more intent on DPS than healing has led me to re-roll as a Disciple of Khaine.

Chaos Wastes - Thanthalu

How are you guys liking the WAR so far? I only have a few hours a night to play so Dezna and I are slowly leveling up on Skavenblight and I've done a bit on the order side. We found a few RP'ers last night that we grouped up with for a PQ. That gave the quest grind a bit of relief but only for a short while. However, we were queued for the scenario and still nothing. I've been in one scenario my whole life of 8 levels. On Tor Elyr it's been a bit more forgiving in Nordland anyway.

I'm curious if others on Skavenblight in T1 have had any luck. Maybe we should head over to Nordland and quest there to avoid traveling back and forth.

It would be nice to group up with some of you and storm some RVR areas but I'm sure we're all in different tiers and makes me think that we really won't be joining up until we are all in the last tier where the world rvr is more predominent.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm enjoying the game and even though i'm not a heavily experienced role player, I appreciate those that do and running with a gang of orcs yelling and jabbering about stupid gits and smashing heads makes it worth it. Hopefully the mentality stays longer than it did on SilverHand.

It seems like only the greenskin players are actually RPing on Chaos Wastes.
I've run into quite a lot of RP'ers on Tor Elyr so far. And I've run enough Scenarios to keep my Renown Rank within one of my actual Rank. I'm loving the situation so far, I just wish there were more people on around my level and at the times I am on.

Amato, what's your character's name on Tor Elyr so dez and I can look you up.

i have two now
Dwarf - Alo
Witch Hunter - Mazer

Dezna is Quistis.

We were able to get into scenarios a lot more than Skavenblight which was nice.

I read that a lot of people are waiting for their copies still so hopefully the servers will fill up in a couple of weeks.

If you play it...they will come.
