I will be venturing into WAR again 9.05 in the morning, quickstart for the OpenBeta is launching.

I've not been able to confirm if there will be RP-specific servers for WAR, but as far as a designated server for Ironsong, it shall certainly be one of those. Mythic is very likely to create servers of this sort, as there was a good variety in DAoC!

I will be part of the quickstart for Launch next week as well: that gives us a good chance to agree on two servers for Chaos and Order Ironsong players!

*salutes*

Why two servers?
Creating characters on WAR servers, regardless of type (I believe), is similar to WoW PvP servers, in that you can only have one faction on each server.
Ah so for those odd folks that want to play Order they need a separate server. Smile

Well the servers are up now for WAR,

I'll be rolling my Greenskin on The Ironclaw Server found it fitting, since we are Ironsong and all... yeah... I don't know if there are designated RP realms yet.

I'll post here later what my character name would be.
Question for anyone who pre-ordered online (If anyone else did). I don't see any specific thing in the confirmation email stating that it's my beta key. Am I just missing something? Is it possible they've capped Open Beta already?

I should probably add that I pre-ordered several days ago. It's possible the particular email server for the company I ordered from (EB/Gamestop) might be slow, I suppose. But that's a little much, as it's been almost a week.
Chaos hmm? Why does the name bring "Get Smart" to mind?
*wanders off to research WAR*

I sent an e-mail concerning this. I got my keys the next day.
I've been playing on it for a while now, though I actually sort of stopped playing beta when I was elevated to "elder" status because I didn't want to experience the whole game before launch on it. I've had experience with a few classes. I enjoyed the Dark elf nuker for pure power, the Black orc made for a fantastic tank, resiliant damage dealer (quite nice in pvp) and the goblin shaman who was so damn squishy it hurt, but a darn good healer to have at your back before they smacked his big heal down some. All in all its been pretty interesting. Chaos is the obvious choice in sides, because that orc accent just makes you RP if you want to or not. I played a few orders classes but nothing really struck me as fantastic about them. I'll likely see a few of you again soon.

It appears that Ironclaw is a Oceanic server. >_< doh! So I'll head to another server for now, see if the game lags less. I was lagging like mad, and have crashed like 3 times... so far so good! lol
Yeah, looks like I'll have to wait until release. They're out of keys.
Started an ironbreaker yesterday. Visually and story-wise it's very impressive. The dwarf hold was awesome and looked perfect from the outside. The tome of knowledge is brilliant.

On the negative side though, I'm not sure I like the combat. Evade bugs are everywhere, but even beyond that it just doesn't feel "smooth". There's definitely a graphical delay on damage you're taking, and offensively I'm just keeping up dots/debuffs/buffs and things die, but I never feel sure how I got there. That's after 8 levels. Hopefully there's just something I'm missing, but right now it feels more like button mashing than control.

I rolled a rune priest and after a night of play, I feel the game is no where near as responsive as WoW. It may be due to the server being full, or it just being beta. The targeting in that game annoys me a bit, I keep clicking on myself all the time, I even unlocked an achievement, "Clicked on yourself 100 times", I lol'ed. I also had to go buy more RAM because of this game. I was running 1gig, and the game takes up like 1.2gigs, so a quick trip to FRYs fixed that. There are alot of other bugs, but its beta so, I don't sweat it much.

On the plus side...

The features are really great so far. My favorite part are the PQs (Public Quest). Just walking into an area and already being part of a quest with a bunch of other people is great. My second favorite thing in that game is the Armor Dying, changing the color of my armor so I can look different then other people with the same armor is great. Something I wish Blizz would add to WoW. The environments are really cool, they seem really alive. I love the snowy area, reminds me of Dun Morogh. Goji and I played for a long time and got to like level 6 i believe, we wandered into an open RVR (PvP) zone but there were no baddies in site /frown.
I would just like to say that if your playing WAR....to NOT burn your meals...that is all.
