Sound off, part deux

I disagree.

I think the real question is why is the /ironsong channel so quiet.
Sreng is asking whether or not we should switch the channels again. But that's not the real issue. It seems to me the real issue is RP.

Yeah, Cata content is overshadowing lots of stuff. Sure there was a bit of stuff to work off of during pre-Cata. But, and correct me if I'm wrong, RP is way down due to the new content. Before we could just blow through dungeons and even raids (to some extent), and that would result in extra time. Now it's a struggle just to get through the first boss. Maybe this is the reason for the silence in the chat channels. I was just trying to explore possibilities to maybe boost RP as a whole.

I don't know if my idea for giving points to RP'ers for raiding is the best idea (or even a good idea), and I certainly don't want to make anyone feel obligated to RP. But, I haven't seen anyone even using the /ironsong channel when I'm on, and I find that very disheartening. So there's my 50 copper.

I'm sorry if this comes off as a little harsh, but I think the reason RP is not active is that it takes work. I don't mind participating when there is RP that is open and available but Mula is the one that is doing most of the work to drive stories. In D&D you have a DM to create the story, our guild is too large for one DM so to speak. Another thing is that while I mwould not propose moving moots I'm rarely ever able to make moots.

So, idea: Should we open /Ironsong to non-guildmates?

I'm in favor of this, personally.

Get more good people in the channel, especially out of guild RPers, and see what happens.

Thoughts?

Yes, I think it should be open.

I think we should probably change the 'location' of the channel then. I think that a lot of us assume that the /ironsong channel takes place in the guild hall, so we should probably open it up to a more universal location.

Here's some possibilities:

--bar in Orgrimmar, (IST has obtained a bar and is conducting business)
--campfire in Valley of Wisdom (this goes along with the open RP idea above)
--Pond side in Thunder Bluff (for those who don't like Orgrimmar)
--a shop in Orgrimmar (this seems like a bit of a stretch for IST)
--a spot in one of the nearby villages (like crossroads or ...)
--there's that really pretty lake in the Valley of wisdom too
--or if you like the smell of sewage the Goblin Slums
--or if you like the smell of swamp - the Troll area in Orgrimmar
--that nice fountain in Silvermoon city
--or if you like the smell of dead things - somewhere in Undercity
--Shattrath or Dalaran - We could probably take over and run those cities. hehe

Any preferences? Any other hot location ideas?

1. If/when open channel (which I support) I would also recommend a campaign to advertise it, both in the realm forums and in general public channels. Yes, it will take someone with a thick skin to bear the brunt of the public channel abuse, and might need someone who knows the channel commands to block/boot people who troll (the non-tusked kind...), but a little macroed message (with the "IG" location) might help shock RP back to this realm.

2. Campaign to advertise it should include one or more realm-wide RP events. (The work Donalzon was talking about).

3. Might want to set the channel location also a place easy to hang out in with actual toons, so folks know where to go for face-to-face RP, and good for folks as they craft, chat, play bejeweled, etc... Hence, I recommend a building in Orgrimmar, as a central location that can not only act as a physcial hub, but is easy to go look at so all can describe actions being taken. (Like finding Anca's hanging rafters, etc...)

4. Also, and this might be controversial, maybe ask the new offshoot RP guild for a realm event collaboration?

Just some thoughts.
