Mellith makes a goo:d point. There are a number of good feral quest rewards, and feral gear is *much* harder to find. If it's a tossup between a good feral piece and a good healing piece as a quest reward pick the feral one! I promise you'll find a caster upgrade as a drop somewhere and toss the healing quest reward eventually, but feral drops are few and far between.

Have another gear question.

I have started to put together both a feral suit and a healing suit for Cloud as he gets asked to do both quite a lot in groups. What I was wondering is for my healing gear should I be focusing on stats INT/SPI or should I be trying to get more +healing? Am just not sure which is the most beneficial, obviously getting both on an item would be the best, but if not which should I pick?

Sound is a plus healing junkie.. as is Mahiah, Naruth and a lot of the high level healers in Ironsong and the game presumably. I always favor it for both long and short fights. I may not have the hugest mana pool ever, but in the long-run my plus healing definitely makes up for it. Sound's rejuvenation ticks because of her plus healing gear allow her to be QUITE efficient with her mana pool, I very rarely have an issue with keeping my group alive because so. I'd give the plus healing gear a try and see in your case. : )

I'm in violent agreement with Sound on the +healing. One thing I would note, also, is that it seems to me that the itemization for leather appears to have a lot of +spirit, rather than MP5, so far. In contrast, the shaman gear has been strongly biased in favor of MP5, so far.

What that means in practical terms is that you're going to be most efficient if you fire off a couple big heals and HoTs, and then let your mana bar idle for a while to get some spirit regen, or hit an innervate if things are tight. So +healing helps there as well. +intellect is always good, of course, but you may find that you can fill in the gaps with gems and enchants to get your mana pool to a decent place.
