LOL

OK, so that wasnt exactly what I was looking for, as it doesnt appear to be the "character" Vanea...unless Efluvious runs some strange graphics settings....which is possible with all the mods out there.

But I think it qualifies.....c'mon people, Efluvious has set the bar. Raise it. Please.

What would the closest international airport be or the closest any airport to the park as I do not feel like driving my truck for 16+ hours to get there =P.

I dont blame you. Sacramento Int'l (SMF) is about three or four hours south of the Lake Shasta area, but you can get flights into Redding (RDD), which is a lot closer, out of Portland (PDX) and Seattle (SEA) which are both int'l... I can only assume that flying into RDD will be pretty expensive as it's a small municipal airport... anyway.. just a thought...

I'd be game with trying to organize a stop or two at SMF to pick some people up on my way up to shasta, or have a drop back off in stockton to crash for a night and head up the next day or something. *shrugs* just a thought.

So what's the status on this? I'd be very interested in doing this since I live in the Bay Area.

We are still trying to work out the details on this. Renting a houseboat is proving to be a bit more "intensive" than I had originally thought.

If anyone has any information about Lake Shasta they could share, we'd love to hear it. Also, if anyone is willing to volunteer in any capacity please send Vanea and myself a private message.

As a backup plan, would anyone be opposed to renting out rooms/cabins on the lake?

If you're able to do this the weekend I could come out... I'd really prefer not to be on a houseboat as I get rather seasick. Even in lakes. Even in small boats in small ponds.

Thayer and Jay - I've made a rather solid list of stuff to discuss about all of this tonight on Vent as we begin planning. (I swear I work at work.. sometimes.) The whole sea sick bit was actually on my list as well, amongst a lot of other things and tidbits. If either of you get the chance, think of some stuff too that ought to be brought up to the planning/consideration table this evening, k?

We'll let you guys know more when we figure more out. :]
