Mok'ra, Tribe!

Welcome, Avanya and welcome back, Abbru. May you bring the Tribe much honor! We're glad to have you with us.

Lots has been going on since the release of 5.2. People are doing dailies every evening on the new island. I strongly encourage you to get together because they are much easier to do in a group! The second portion of the island opened up just a couple days ago -- go check it out!

The Throne of Thunder LFR opened last week with great success. The guild got into a nice, smooth LFR for the first section and downed all three bosses with only a few wipes. This week, we cleared the first section again with no trouble, and then jumped into the second section - and OMG, that was rough. We got two bosses down with some effort, but that last slimy sewer full of bugs and snails-of-death and the maggots that didn't die? Wow. Mental note: next time bring some Deeprock Salt for the snails. We made it to the bird boss and got in a couple attempts but by then it was so late that we retired. NEXT WEEK, though, he's OURS.

The 10-man met with great success this week, killing the Will of the Emperor for the first time, thus finishing Mogu'shan Vaults! We then went on to Heart of Fear and killed Zor'lok, the first boss, for the first time! We had several attempts on the second boss, Blade Lord Ta'yak, and got him into his final phase, but did not quite get him down. We learned a lot, though, and I look forward to killing him next week.

Schedule for next week:

Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m., LFR Throne of Thunder, first and second sections. Bring salt.

Thursday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m., 10-man Heart of Fear.

It looks like 5.2 will be going live this week!

Here are the patch notes!

There will be...
* New world bosses
* A new Raid, called Throne of Thunder! We'll be jumping into the LFR version as soon as it opens -- probably next week!
* Two new factions: Sunreaver Onslaught, with reputation from dailies, and Shado-Pan Assault with reputation from any raid. The new gear can be bought with Valor Points.
* New daily area, called Isle of Thunder, with dailies and solo storytelling questlines (like Dominance Offensive)
* New Legendary quest content
* A legendary questline for warlocks
* New scenario, called Troves of the Thunder King
* New rare spawns along the coastline, with a new quest- and mob-share mechanic which lets you join in if someone else is already killing it, and get credit and loot.
* New battle pets! There are ten new special elite battle pets, with pet rewards (baby pandas). There are also baby Zandalari raptors, tiny carps, and new dinosaur pets from the Isle of Thunder!
* Zen Alchemist's Stone recipe for Alchemists
* Mantid archaeology -- new digsites, new artifacts, and new achievements
* New profession recipes
* New farming dailies, farm upgrades, and efficiency tools (like planting four patches at once!)

Hooray! I can't wait!

Here's the latest news from Blizzard on patch 5.2. Here's the upshot:


* Release date

The patch will land on February 26th.


* New raid dungeon: Throne of Thunder

The ilevel cutoff for LFR Throne of Thunder will be 480. It will be released 1 week after the patch lands.

Ironsong will be jumping in to this dungeon on LFR on the day it is released, March 5th, so get your ilevels up to 480 beforehand!

New sections of the ToT dungeon will open up every week -- we will be doing those as they become available.


* Valor points

All your valor points will be turned into Justice Points when the patch lands (up to the cap of 4000. Any points over that get converted to gold).

Edit 2/13/13: Blizzard has announced that they are NOT going to convert Valor to Justice and Justice to gold.

The old Valor items will still cost Valor Points, but at a lower cost (25% drop for Dominance Offensive items, 50% drop for 5.0 items).

Edit 2/13/13: The new factions WILL offer new Valor items as well (ilevel 496.)


* Upgrades are going away for 5.2 (they'll be back for 5.3)

--> If you have an item you want upgraded with Valor Points, do it now!


* Mogu Runes of Fate

The new raid charm, for getting additional loot rolls on the new Throne of Thunder bosses, is called the Mogu Rune of Fate. You'll be turning Lesser charms in for these every week, instead of for Elder Charms.

Elder Charms, which will still work in the old 5.0 dungeons, will now drop from mobs in the new Thundering Isle zone.

Also, the chance to get an item in the 5.0 raid dungeons is being increased, as is the chance to get one from using an Elder Charm.

--> Spend your Elder Charms, hoard your Lesser Charms.

We've had a busy week with LFR on Tuesday, we cleared Heart of Fear and Terrance of Endless Shadows for sweet, sweet valor!

Thursday the 10-man extended the raid timer for the first time to work extra-hard on Elegon. We made good progress, getting him well into the final phase -- we're really close! The fight felt good, we learned a ton, and *almost* killed him. We have him within reach -- let's get him down next week. Many thanks to Kretol and Nganga for stepping in on Thursday!

Note: Next week Thursday falls on Valentine's Day so we will be running the 10-man raid on Friday instead -- Friday, February 15th.

There are lots of pet battles going on in the guild these days! Much collecting, comparing of notes, battling of tamers, and swapping advice. If you haven't tried pet battling, give it a try!

Happy New Year!

We're back in the swing of things with LFR raids on Tuesdays. Our next one will be this evening, January 15th. We are doing the harder, iLevel-470 raids, Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring, so if you want to join us get your iLevel up to 470! Guildmembers have been gathering informally for LFR Mogu'shan Vaults or doing it on their own.

Our Thursday, January 10th 10-man went well -- we downed the first three bosses, including Gara'jal for the second time. This Thursday, January 17th, we hope to attack the Spirit Kings for the first time.

We are forming up for impromptu heroic and scenario achievement runs in the evenings as well. Oryx and I usually come on between 7:30 and 8:30 and run a couple dungeons. Please join us, and group up with each other too!
