Arthas, Cataclysm, etc... - timeline question
#16
Speaking of an Ironsong time-line, is there one for us new grunts?

As to when something becomes tribe history, I'd suggest a moot would go over the tribe actions.
With reports from the various tribe mates that engaged in the action.
Then we can decide if we record the fate in our history.

I don't know if any of the latest villains have been defeated. But if the world events change, may be, they are now just one of many villains that the tribe has on our doorstep.

Of course, we still have all the forces brought in by these villains to fight as well, so the struggle continues...

If you do not want spoilers do not click any statues in Dalaran. Though one of them may well resolve this timeline issue.

To (hopefully) simplify:
When will Ironsong consider Arthas dead?

I think the answer is either:

When we kill him as a guild
-or-
4.0 patch (Cataclysm world event), or shortly before

whichever comes first.

I hope the logistics department didn't schedule Noodleclysm to occur in conflict with Srengageddon.

Well, the Daichallaradon has appeared, ready to usher in both.

Noodleclysm and Srengageddon I believe are scheduled for separate weekends. We could set up a ticket package so that those who want to witness both can do so at a SUBSTANTIAL savings! Sign up in advance and receive free foreshadowing of the coming of Kittyclysm.

Being that there is discussion of changing the IST raiding of ICC, including some saying we should push it into Cataclysm as a "previous expansion" raid, I would like to push this thread back into focus again.

I think we need the Ironsingers/Officers to begin a discussion and let us know that there will be a timely decision, please.

Losing the chance to RP in /gu about the fate of Arthas would be a huge negative blow to the storylines and personalities of much of the characters in this tribe, in my opinion.

Thank you!

p.s. My point is that "When we kill him as a guild" from Noodle's answer seems fuzzy at this point, does this count one or more ten man raids doing it?

It is not entirely clear to me that we will kill him as a guild, and that RP'ng the storyline that we have done so from disparate 10-mans or other raids is a bit disingenuous. Let me give an example. Jabadue will be facing Arthas tonight in his other 25-man. I am the only member of IST in the raid. If we down him, does that mean that IST has defeated Arthas?

Of course, it is just a game, and RP is all about the imaginary, so I suppose people can do what they want about this. It would only be my hope that it have some basis in the reality of guild and not individual achievements in the game. Of course, we will have to see how the 10-mans, and 25-man, do in the next couple of months.

I might suggest that the RP of Arthas' demise can commence when that achievement pops up on either 25-man or 10-man on www.guildox.com for the Ironsong Tribe.

Just to put it out there...in game we experience the world filled with hundreds of other warriors, shamans, priests etc. of both factions....Ironsong doesn't "technically" have to be the ones that defeated all these great enemies. Arthas is the first boss where Blizzard made a mark of it in Dalaran...Arthas is dead already (on Silver Hand) and all we really did was play our role in holding back the hordes of undead that tried to destroy Azeroth.

No other boss that I can remember left a mark, which makes it "easier" for us to add into our Guild Lore (aside from NPC Yells stating a boss is dead). This case...it is not as easy.

Just a thought...

I totally agree that "we" don't have to have beaten him personally (or maybe when we beat him it can be an 'echo' or some other RP thing).

I would just like to know when I can RP the event in guild chat without being frowned at for bringing spoilers to the players of IST. That defeat (and the dramatic end result) is key to the character roleplay.

I will go check out guildox (neat idea!), but I would adore an actual "official" word from officers/Ironsingers so i cna plan the timing a little for some of my current character and guild storylines.

I agree with Phoro that Arthas being "dead" to us would have a large impact on storylines.... however, there are ways to keep those storylines intact. It has been said repeatedly that there must always be a Lich King.... just because Arthas dies, does not mean that there are no scourge and that the forsaken are instantly free of that nagging temptation to rejoin the Lich King's ranks. If/when we decide to declare Arthas dead for us, we can easily transition from one Lich King to the next without damaging the storylines.

If you want the Ironsingers to discuss it and throw ideas around, I'll PM them now and get the discussion started, and keep you updated as much as I possibly can.

I don't think this idea is going to work. I cannot explain it due to spoilers. I agree that we need to determine a time that we can RP what has taken place...but as far as I am concerned as a player...Arthas is dead and there is a monument that shows it.

This, in my opinion, is not something we can just work into our guild history. We have to take into consideration that we are RP'ing in a virtual world that, at this point in time, is progressing faster than we are. What happens there should ultimately be impacting Ironsong. I don't think it right that we cater everything to whatever we want without taking into account that things are also happening in game.

Not sure if that makes much sense, but I hope what I am trying to say comes across somehow.

I tend to agree that Arthas, specifically, as the Lich King / no longer (?) Lich King needs to be allowed to be roleplayed at some point. There are way more then forsaken at stake here: DKs, Blood Elves, Orcs, and others in the horde have HUGE history with Arthas, not just Arthas as the Lich King.

Also, beware spoilers in this thread, please. We can all go watch the video in Dalaran once the time for IST RP begins, but shouldn't force it.

Me? I am happy with whatever timeline is decided on, but would *strongly* push for one pre-Cataclysm, as that will dominate the RP once it lands.

I know I must sound to some like I am being needlessly pushy, but I don't want confusion like I experienced recently, where I tried to roleplay the events of Kael'thas and the Sunwell in /gu and was told via whisper that we have no idea if in the IST timeline has that event occurred. Which seems very odd to me since they should have been resolved pre-Wrath and were key events to the Blood Elves.

Isn't there one more patch before Cataclysm? That might be a good deadline on Arthas RP, if we don't get the achievement as a guild beforehand. Another guild tracking site is wowprogress.com
