Mouseover Macros for Healers

Mouseover macros are a simple way to greatly increase the speed at which you cast your most common healing spells on different members of the raid. Note that there are mods like Healbot and Grid that essentially do the same thing. However I prefer macros because I prefer using a minimal amount of mods.

Simply create a macro by typing /macro or using the "Game Menu->Macros" button and hitting the "New" button on the bottom. Name your macro and find a suitable icon for it. ((Note: if you prefer to have the default icon for the ability the easiest way to do this is to select the first icon, the red question mark, from the list of icons and use the line #showtooltip at the top of your Macro Command entry as shown below))

After you have made your selection hit "Okay". This will bring your cursor to the position where you are ready to enter the macro commands.

Type in the following:

#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover, exists] Spell Name(Rank x); Spell Name(Rank x)

For example if I was trying to make a macro for my Rejuvenation spell I would put in:

#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover, exists] Rejuvenation(Rank 15); Rejuvenation(Rank 15)

An easy way to be sure that you get the proper spelling and rank of the spell is to open your "Spellbook and Abilities" menu and simply Shift-Left Click the ability when you want to enter the name into the macro.

And that's it. Drag the icon you selected onto your action bar and link it to a keystroke. Now, whenever you want to cast the spell on a friendly target all you need to do is hover your mouse over the character or onto their box in your target, party, or raid box on your interface and click the button. This makes it very easy once you have your raid boxes setup to show the whole raid to heal people without having to click on them to target them first. It just makes healing a little less clicky and faster which can mean a big difference in your raid healing and reaction time. Enjoy!

After last night, I think that our main challenge is controlling the constructs after they become molten. They will drop agro at that point, and most likely head off toward the healers.

I like the tankspot strategy on this, but our problem is that we no longer have a druid tank for rooting. I suppose a death knight might be able to grip them back toward the water or a pally lay a consecrate down on the healers to bring them back.

What I don't know is how difficult was it to pick up the Constructs initially? I am thinking of using the tankspot 4 point tanking strategy, as I think this might make it easier for the construct tanks to pick them up and get them to a scorch.

We may give the tankspot strategy a try, so I would like everyone to watch their video
I am going to make a pass at assigning the most critical roles. There are 5 of each vehicle in heroic mode. If you die during gauntlet, you can run back and pick up another vehicle.

Siege Engines will lead us through the Gauntlet, Destroy Towers, and kite the boss.
Siege Engine 1: Kosath - Driver, Zlinka - Gunner
Siege Engine 2: Daichallar - Driver, Dispaya - Gunner
Siege Engine 3: Donalzon - Driver, Areshkhagel - Gunner

Demolishers are primary DPS on Boss and launch passengers onto him to activate overload circuit. We should launch a healer and a dps at same time. Thus, they will be in different vehicles.
Team 1: Sandiel and Sbin
Team 2: Kuskuh and Dentik
Team 3: Noodlemortis gets to play both roles

Demolisher Drivers: Arcinon, Ayrtonsenna, Amato, Dyonis, Umu

Choppas drop oil slicks in front of the boss to slow him down and pick up people on foot and transport them back to their rigs. They can also heal their passengers. They need to pick up the parachute teams as priority.
Nadilynn, Oryx, Preylee, Eruadan, other healers

We will fill in the other seats at raid time depending on who is there.

I was wondering if anyone who has healed much in heroic dungeons or raids has any tips on good addons to help when the healer is called on to move around a lot, or especially to participate in the fighting, as well as heal.

So far this is the most challenging battles I've been in. So I'll add one more question. Are there any really "must haves" out there for healing -as far as addons go? (I don't know if it will matter or not, but I am asking for Cord who is a Paladin.)

I'd also be interested to hear if anyone has any tricks of the trade they would like to share for healing a raid. I know every fight is bound to be different and plenty of things are likely class specific, but I just thought there might be things that people have picked up that it would be helpful to know. A kind of collective healers' wisdom, if you will.

Well, that's all. Thanks.

I know many people have discussed returning to Azeroth to explore the raid content that we did not do as a Tribe. I wanted to post a copy of clarification provided by Nethaera on the boards earlier today about how bosses will work when we are at level 70.

Quote: Ok, I have some quick clarification on a few things.

Yes the bosses scale and should act as if 3 levels higher than each individual player. So this will only affect, chance to resist, glancing blows and to hit for each person. Ex. If you are 70 it will react as if it is 73. If you are 60, it will be 63. The hitpoints do not go up nor does the damage that the mob does. The only thing that is scaling is damage mitigation based on each player attacking the mob.

So to clear it up, it does not scale based on the highest member of the raid. The loot tables remain unchanged as well.

This will be a brief rundown of our Razorgore strategy. Based on past performance, we know it works, but we still seem to get a lot of questions about what exactly we're doing each week. So here it is:

Phase 1: A tank picks up Razorgore briefly while the orb controller starts the mind control. The orb controller begins destroying eggs while the rest of the raid kills Grethok and his two guards. Grethok dies first.

Phase 2: Approximately 1 minute after aggroing Grethok, enemies start to spawn at the corners of the room. The raid is broken into 4 teams, one for each corner, consisting of 8-9 people per team.

The spawns are treated as follows:

Mages: Kill as top priority. These AE and cast bolt spells.
Legionaires: Kill as second priority. Basic melee mob.
Dragonkin: Kited by warriors, do not attack these. They are fast, they cleave, and they are immune to slowing effects.

Kiting teams: 2-3 warriors, each with a druid assigned to them for healing. Their job is to run laps of the room, jumping from the landing at each end to keep ahead of the dragonkin. Highly recommend a run speed enchant on a pair of high stamina boots for this task. Use sunder or shield slam to grab initial aggro.

Class specific instructions for the corner groups:

Druids: Most likely needed on healing. Also if you see a dragonkin in your corner that is not being kited, put it to sleep until a kiter comes by and picks it up.

Hunters: Pure DPS. Frost traps may help grab legionaires and mages, but discuss it with your corner first, as the white-out effect can be difficult on healers watching raid health bars.

Mages: Pure DPS. Be liberal with the sheeping of extra mobs in your corner as well.

Priests: Healing, or damage if your corner is ahead of the spawn curve. Psychic scream and fade hotkeyed will go a long way in keeping you alive.

Rogue: Pure DPS and preferred choice for main assist in your corner. Know the target priority for kills.

Shaman: Damage and healing where needed. Recommend tranquil air totems if you are not in a kiters group. Earthbind totems are also useful, but be advised that mobs will likely aggro on them as they spawn.

Warlock: Pure DPS and fear if needed. We will likely reach a point where seconds count, and fear may keep us alive.

Warrior: Odds are good that you will either be tanking a corner or kiting. Warriors are also the preferred orb controller because whoever has orb control when the last egg is destroyed starts with significant aggro on Razorgore in phase 3, and he is untauntable.

If all goes well, or close enough to it, then phase 2 will last roughly 5 minutes. When the last egg is destroyed, phase 3 begins.

Phase 3 is only Razorgore. Everything else despawns. Razorgore is untauntable, hits for a lot, and has a cone shaped breath attack that is an AE conflagrate... yes, exactly like Drakkisaths conflagrate in AE form. He will also deal regular fire AE damage to most of the room.

The positioning for this is to have Razorgore in a corner but facing diagonal to it, with a tank in front of him and a second tank behind him. All melee stay to his side to avoid the AE. It is critical that no one pull aggro. He will switch targets from one tank to the other each time he conflagrates. Steady damage and healing win this fight once he's in position.

That's it. We know this works, we just need enough people. Losses each time have come from loose dragonkin, and that is solved with practice for the kiters and healers. DPS in the corners is not an issue.

As we're facing Ragnaros and potentially harder bosses in BWL if and when we ever advance to that dungeon, we've started trying to find ways to boost caster DPS. The addition of the Nightfall axes has been a very welcome addition to be sure, but there's more than each individual can do to boost their own spell damage.

With that in mind, I wanted to start up a thread where we can discuss reliable boosts to our spell damage output that doesn't include hearthing back to Orgrimmar for a Rallying Cry of the Dragon Slayer or a DM Tribute run, hehe.

Right now I or others in the tribe are capable of crafting the following items which are all generally inexpensive ways to give your spells a little something extra:

Arcane Elixir - Increases spell damage by up to 20 for 30 mins.
1x Blindweed, 1x Goldthorn, 1x Crystal Vial

Greater Arcane Elixir - Increases spell damage by up to 35 for 1 hour.
3x Dreamfoil, 1x Mountain Silversage, 1x Crystal Vial

Elixir of Shadow Power - Increases Shadow spell damage by up to 40 for 30 mins.
3x Ghost Mushroom, 1x Crystal Vial

Elixir of Greater Firepower - Increases Fire spell damage by up to 40 for 30 mins. (not so great against Ragnaros, but for other fights)
3x Fire Oil, 3x Firebloom, 1x Crystal Vial

Brilliant Wizard Oil - Applied to weapon (stackable with potions) - Increases spell damage by up to 36 and increases spell critical chance by 1%. Lasts 30 minutes. Persists through death.
Enchanting recipe - 2x Large Brilliant Shard, 3x Firebloom, 1x Imbued Vial. Has 5 charges.

And if you want to go all out...

Flask of Supreme Power - Increases damage done by magical spells and effects by up to 150. Lasts 2 hours. Persists through death.
30x Dreamfoil, 10x Mountain Silversage, 1x Black Lotus, 1x Crystal Vial

At minimum, I would suggest having Arcane Elixir, or Greater Arcane Elixir (Elixir of Shadow Power for Warlocks) and Brilliant Wizard Oil available. These aren't difficult to make, and staight up give a bonus of 56 ~ 71 spell damage plus 1% chance to crit.

If there's other things that can be made that I haven't listed here, speak up! The more we know, the more Ragnaros and those proceeding him should quiver in fear at the might of this tribe!

Ragnaros's Preparation for Melee (Warrior, Rogues)

The Ragnaros fight combines elements of all the previous nine bosses in the Molten Core. It will test our ability to retain the lessons learned from those fights, and our raid coordination, movements, main tanking, off tanking, healing, banishing, dps, aggro control, crowd control, pulling, assisting, positioning, listening to raid leader commands, voting Akora for MA and knowing where to be and what to be doing. Every participant will have multiple positions and duties, and they must stay alive to execute these duties.

Ragnaros (Rags) is a fight with three distinct stages.
Stage 1: Ragnaros Wars
Stage 2: Sons of Flame Strike Back
Stage 3: Ragnaros Returns
If we do things right we won’t have Stages 4 & 5
Stage 4: Return of the Sons
Stage 5: Revenge of Ragnaros

Read This
Please read this thread and review the strategy at the below link to see the positioning pictures.
http://pacifistguild.org/ragnaros/

Fire Resist
Equipment-wise, Fire Resist (FR) is very important. All melee should have 150-200 unbuffed FR, both MTs should have over 300 buffed FR.

Fire Resist Gear Links
- See the Plate Resist List, Leather Resist List, Misc Resist List for a selection of good fire resist gear. http://laerg.gotdns.com:10152/viewtopic.php?t=849

Potions
Get a big stockpile of this stuff: Greater Fire Protection Potion, Elixir of the Mongoose, Elemental Sharpening Stones, and Winterfall Firewater. Potions can really help in our initial attempts. Fire Resist potions are just as good or better than healing potions. Every participant needs to minimize your damage taken so we can save our mana for our tank heals.

Meleers should have 3 Greater Fire Resist potions just each attempt. I recommend that everyone use a Greater Fire Resist potion 2 min before the pull. and use another FR potion just before the Sons of Flame arrive.

Everyone should be responsible for his/her own potions or make arrangements with guild mates to provide form them.

Back Up Weapons
Ragnaros has a debuff that increases the durability damage taken on melee weapons that strike him. It’s probably about 1/3 erosion of an item’s durability per Ragnaros attempt. So we will need to secure the services of a Repair Bot for our first few attempts. Meleer’s bring a back up weapon(s).

Positioning
This fight is all about positioning. And the attempt is made or broken depending on how we perform in our positioning.
http://pacifistguild.org/ragnaros/

Like the MajorDomo fight, we can position ourselves and ‘practice’ positioning with out pulling aggro from Ragnaros if we are ‘smart’ about it (the fight won't start until we talk to MajorDomo). The leadership will call out the various battle ‘stages’ and we will practice moving to and from the various positions (like jumping over the lava flow w/o taking any damage - i.e. spam jump). Every participant must know where to be for each stage of the fight. Improper positioning will lead to deaths or ineffectiveness.
Group Setup
Melee groups and ranged groups is the general idea. MTs, MT healers. We will always use FR totems.
Groups 1 and 2 are the main tank and their healers groups and should consist of: MT1/MT2/Shaman/Druid/Warlock and Shaman/Priest x2/Ranged x2.
Then around 3 groups of melee setup like so: Melee x3/Healer x2 for totems and battle shout.
We will have a warrior MA for the Sons of Flame.

Please read this thread and review the strategy at the below link to see the positioning pictures.
