The ultra-short six word story contest is now closed. Thank you so much to everyone who participated!

I enjoyed every entry and it was very difficult to pick just three stories out of so many. I decided to go with the stories that seemed to capture a vivid moment in a larger, untold story; stories that evoked character, tension, setting, and left me wanting to know more, all in just six words.

With that in mind, here are the winners...

First place: Anca
for "93 days counting, still no dragon"

The questions just keep coming… who is waiting for the dragon? Was the main character set up or betrayed? Is this a 'Waiting for Godot' type story? And where is the dragon? Three months is a long time to wait… why is the main character still waiting? Why is it worth so much? This story kept me up at night!

Runners-up: Donalzon
for "Plate wearers front, dresses dead behind"

This is a wonderful description of a raid in mid-wipe. It's like a photograph of a tree in mid-fall, like a shot of Wile E. Coyote poised in mid-air, a snapshot in motion, full of tension and incoming doom.

and Phoronid
for "Only one outhouse in Azeroth -- occupied!"

This one captures the image of some poor shmuck in the Searing Gorge, hopping up and down holding his pants, waiting and waiting for that dwarf to come out. And it begs the question… why are there no bathrooms in the cities and towns? Does everyone have to take a trip to a volcanic wasteland just to pee?

Honorable mentions!

Lucinther
* Two blades, multiple wounds, no trace

Mula (rincewindy)
* Sickness. Love lost. Undying. Decaying rose.

Nganga
* Cliff jump. Chute deployed. Too soon.

Phoronid (Mirounga)
* Undead strings severed. Rise or fall.
* Unwilling puppets dance to angry freedom

Skrap
* Fire; chaos. Determined eyes. Silence followed.

Yay! Thanks Zlinka! Great contest idea!

That outhouse has always been mysterious.

It really does encourage poor sanitation.

Who cleans it, in that location?

Worst job ever: Volcanic outhouse janitor.

(especially since it is always occupied)

- Enjoying these six word phrases, - Phoronid.
