it would be awesome to have back access to both PMs and the "View New Posts", yes.
I had to edit some of the numerical values for some of the default groups, and while I managed to keep everyone in the proper groups, some of the permissions I forgot to reset.
What happened to the colours? Why did everything revert to black?
Folks that were using the prosilver style before still can do so by going to their personal CP and changing it.

For way dork reasons, when will we get access to the blog section? Or is that a whole 'nother feature which requires a lot more work to get up and running?

Strange. It seems the permissions for the CMS portal are based on your
default group, not just on any group you're part of. I'll have to ensure every group gets the right permissions then.
You should be able to both create a blog and post/see shouts as well, now.
I like the new look. I'm sure as we get used to it and the kinks get worked out it will be even better
