The Passage of Time.....
#1
Ironsong tribe, one topic, two sub topics.

1.) I know not if there was another posting about this issue, however I feel it beneficial if we all have an understanding of how time flows in Azeroth/Outland. Is an second equivalent to an second in our time? A minute? An hour? A day? A Month? A Year? Do they share the same names/terms?

From my own personal opinion I am happy to see that the term "season" is almost rare to see in RP text given that the time it takes to level a character isnt realisticly a "season".

When a character wishes to arrange something via guild chat how do they represent the time they wish to meet in relation to how time passes in WoW.

I have looked all over the internet and have found nothing...are there any resources? Or is there a standard that We as in Ironsong can set in place?

2.) Would it be wise to dictate the actual timeline of events in Warcraft? Ultimately this will aid many tribesmates/potential peons in developing characters/character history. I myself have looked and found many conflicting sources however since I am definately not a "Lore fiend", I dont want to risk dictating information that will undoubtly be argued against, perhaps someone with more knowledge of the history could aid in this endeavour?

Just some thoughts.

I'll admit that I have the same issues as you Big Grin I've always been a little unsure how to go about writing a backstory becuase I'm not 100% on how much time I'm actually writing about
I think that an "unofficial" timeline used by those in the tirbe/want to be in the tribe/ like the timeline. It would definately make life easier if we were all on the same page regardless of if it was 100% accurate or not

This as well...what I was looking for is a Timeline of Azerothian events, Sreng I believe is trying to muster Ironsong lore specifically. Perhaps we as a tribe can incorporate our events within that timeline as a "universal guide" of events that took place so new and existing members know what happened in Azeroth before WoW and where Ironsong began, as well as the order at which the trials they faced happened (RP Events).

Further thoughts?

The Azeroth timeline can be found online in various places. Here are some helpful links:
(knowing of course that you can and probably have looked this up...I'm just posting this as a shortcut...it may be a good place to start.)

Three different sources...some possesing information that others do not...this was my issue and I didnt want to cause a comotion by coming up with something like that, then have it argued continuously within the thread.

I will come up with something at work and see if it jives.

However, the first part...how does time flow within Azeroth? Is a day in real life a day in Azeroth? Are there 24 hours in a day? What are the days called if thats the case? Months? Years are a consistent use of term within all the references, but considering Azeroth is a different world a year may pass differently than in real life. Since I doubt there are any legitimate references to this, do we just decided on something for our own RP purposes?

Given that the day/night cycle and seasonal cycle (holidays and such) in WoW follows ours, I tend to assume equivalancy.

That makes sense (and would be simplest, as well).
