I thought I'd share some of the photos and such from Zimbabwe (afetr Zlinka suggested it. Wink ) for people to see. All in all it was a fantastic time and a great trip. So many incredible things to see, people to meet, and things to do.

Welcome to Zimbabwe!

These are wonderful, Skrap! Thank you so much for sharing!

Those cave paintings are amazing. How old are they? I love the ruins, too, and the landscapes... wow!

And I loved the RL Barrens Chat and the Nganga photo Smile

Thanks again for posting these! These are great. What a wonderful trip!

Thanks Z! The art in general is about 1,500 years old they think. There's examples of it going back at least 9,500 years, but most doesn't last that long, especially exposed to the elements. They were left by the Bushmen, also known as the San. (Fun fact, they prefer the term Bushmen, and use it among themselves. Most think it's bad and say San, but San is a name from another tribe, means vagabond, and they don't like it.)

The ones in Bambata Cave are thought to be about 3,000 years old. They're left by a group of tribes that show agriculturalists and hunter/gatherers coexisting and trading.

Khami was a full on Kingdom, established around 1,000 AD and lasting until the 17th century. They were part of the Arabian trade network, one of the last stops on the gold road. They were the source of much of the gold and diamonds that Arabia traded, and there have been examples of Chinese pottery and Indonesian seeds found there from trading. They went into decline after the Portuguese cut off the Arabian network in the Indian ocean.

Fun as it all is, I would love a magic Warcraft archaeology transect to be able to find things!
