Not sure how...

...but it seems I've been hacked. I have never shared a password with anyone, so I don't know how for sure. The only thing I suspect is I recently downloaded add-ons, the last one being Chat Link. I was surprised to find an e-mail from Blizzard tonight about my compromised account. I hope that was someone from the Tribe that did that. If so, thank you. I'm curious to see what comes of this.

I also recently downloaded Omen, Identity and Gatherer; I would hope Omen is safe, since so many use it.

Lhuu...

Zlinka sent a petition regarding your account to a GM, and they responded that they were looking into the possibility of a hack. Also, don't be surprised to see all of your characters demoted to peon status, as this is a precautionary measure until things have been settled to prevent further withdrawals.

Good luck with this.

Yes, Zlinka sent me a PM, which was the third piece of the puzzle, if you will that really cemented that this was happening. I dread seeing what, if anything, my characters will still have when I next log-in.

Lhuursa, where did you download these addons?

From http://www.curse.com; never had issues with them before. If it matters, I downloaded them from a mirror site and not through the curse downloader.

Evidently my Ad-Aware and AVG missed whatever is providing the info, because not even 5 minutes after logging in tonight, I was booted off again. I promptly went to the Account Management section on the WoW site and changed my password again. So, it looks like tonight is going to be a long, boring, irritated night of scanning my comp and figuring out what file(s) are causing the mischief.

*sigh*

I ran TREND MICRO's "HouseCall" and it found a file called "JAVA_BYTEVER.DE" that it labelled as malware. I had it cleaned, and I've also updated my Adobe Flash version. I logged on to a character on a different server, and inside 3 minutes, I got kicked off again.

Help, please!?

I'm not sure how computer-savvy you are, so would you kindly get HijackThis (available here), run it and do a system scan and save a log file. Post the log file here!

I'm not sure what Hijackthis shows for the bottom half of that... if those are running or not. Doing some google searches, 5 things jump out at me though:

init32.exe
JAguAr.exe
321102.exe
ms-its.exe
Uint32.exe

They can all be classified as malware, trojans, and backdoors.

If things get bad enough, there is always the format and reinstall option as a last resort. Sad

Also make sure to keep checking to make sure your remote access is turned off. Even if you get rid of the hack they can come right back in if that's turned on, and it can be used as indication wthat you didn't get whatever was hacking if you turn it off and it appears as on again.

This requires logging in, yes? If so, until I'm sure my computer's clean, I'm not logging back in.
