Auriaya Pull

From Krigaren of Bloodbound:

I'm not sure what your raid composition is as far as who you have for tanks and such, but this video is a pretty good starting point for the pull: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZCL4RTWzIc

In the video they have the entire raid, including the MT and one of the OTs, stand out of LoS along the wall. I assume the second OT is standing out of LoS either up the stairs, or in the nook on the other side of the stairs opposite the raid.

They use one hunter to MD pull with Multi-shot to threat two cats onto the far LoS OT (then runs around the corner and Feigns) while the OT with the raid taunts a pre-determined cat and has another pre-determined cat MD'd by another hunter to him. Thus you immediately have the four cats broken up into two groups without having to worry about the OTs repositioning after the pull like we do (and prevents the cats from stacking the buff).

The nook the raid is in also prevents the cats from pouncing anyone since, by the time the cat is far enough away to use Pounce, the raid will once again be out of LoS because of the stairs and will most likely have their tank in LoS anyway.

Here's another video by the same guild, pulling from the left platform rather than the right platform. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_7ITTAOzVA

Now, how does BB do it?

You've seen how we break up the raid. The tanks and healers out of LoS on the side near Yogg's chamber with the rest of the raid chillin out on the stairs out of LoS. We have Denuth throw down a DnD to get initial threat on everything. I taunt Auriaya as she's about to come up the steps (taunt seems to be in LoS at that point). Galdoc taunts a pre-determined cat off of Denuth and a hunter MDs another pre-determined cat onto Galdoc. Galdoc and Denuth split up.

The only reason cats should ever pounce and attack anyone during the pull is if the healer starts dropping heal bombs the moment the fight starts, or if DPS gets an itchy trigger finger and starts to unload before the OTs have solid threat. For this reason Denuth's cats should always die first, since he had initial threat and the most time to build up threat over Galdoc.

Any way you slice it though, you need to have two primary components to the pull. 1) Everyone is out of LoS. 2) Tanks split up cats. If you can do that using whatever method works best, then that's the way to go.

That first video's AE...holy crap. Maybe it's cause I'm melee and I don't usually see that, but they downed those defenders like they were nothing.

I also noticed that all melee was stacked on the tank in front of her, while ranged was stacked together in front of her, but farther back. Usually, I just see us all clumped in one spot. Also, they were killing those cats rather far away (up the stairs?). Should that be something we try or should we keep kiting her to avoid the zones?

What I took from this was a way to separate the cats on the pull from the boss, and the use of misdirects. I do think that death and decay could replace a misdirect. The key is one of the cat tanks initially may get all the agro from the cats, and the other cat tank needs to taunt one and have another misdirected to him. The second cat tank may also benefit from rogues' Tricks of the Trade. Separating the cats would lessen the effect of their short range DPS aura.

After that, I think we proceed as before.
