Whether you've ever played D&D or not, the fact that you're playing WoW means it has still touched your life in a significant way. When it comes to roleplaying games, this guy was like the father of them all.

((I was just going to post a link to a story about this.))

It is a sad day today as we role-players lose are Grand Dungeon Master. No slayed by a dragon or demon or orc, but by the ravages of time and the failure of the body.

Rest in peace, Gary. There are many of us who thank you for the hours of fun you contributed to our lives and for keeping us out of trouble on Friday and Saturday nights.

Godspeed.

Thanks for everything Gary. I honestly doubt my life would bear the remotest resemblance to what it is now, if not for your influence.

There's going to be some wicked good gaming happening in the Otherworlds now. Smile

As always, I think Penny Arcade says it best:

Yes, I have many fond gaming memories, and this passion/hobby will stay with me forever, I'm pretty sure. Heck, I played a session of DnD for my bachelor party!

Regardless of what happens to D&D, Gygax is satisfied with what his games have set in motion. "I think they've done a world of good for people, socially, mentally, educationally," he adds. "I think that's why I'm still alive now, because it's helped so many people."
